Can you have type 2 diabetes and not know?

My cousin just found out she has type 2 diabetes during a routine check-up, and she had no idea about it before. She didn't have any major symptoms. Can you have type 2 diabetes and not even know about it for a long time?

Yes, absolutely. Type 2 diabetes often has no clear symptoms in the early stages, so many people live with it for years without knowing.

Yes, it is known as a silent disease. It is highly recommended to get a routine fasting blood sugar and HbA1c test done every year, especially if you have a family history, just to be on the safer side.

Yes, definitely. I use a continuous glucose monitor occasionally to keep track of my blood sugar spikes, and it is surprising how some high-carb Indian meals can spike sugar levels silently without showing any obvious physical symptoms.

Haan na, bilkul pata nahi chalta bahut baar. Mere uncle ko bhi koi problem nahi thi, normal medical checkup mein achanak diabetes nikal aaya. Isliye regular checkup karva lena chahiye thode time baad.

Oh, absolutely! At my age, you only find out when you go for a routine insurance test or a tooth extraction. It sits quietly inside like an uninvited guest, so getting an annual blood test is the only way to catch it.
