Can you have thyroid cancer with normal labs?

My sister was diagnosed with thyroid cancer recently, and her reports were normal until late stages. I have a lump in my throat that I've noticed, but my recent blood tests for thyroid functions came back fine. Is it possible to have thyroid cancer even with normal lab results?

Yes, you absolutely can. I once ignored a tiny swelling in my neck thinking my blood reports were perfect, and that was a huge mistake. Please get an ultrasound done if you feel any lump or changes in your neck.

Bro, yes, normal T3, T4, or TSH levels don't rule it out. My cousin's blood work was completely normal but the doctor found a nodule during a routine neck scan. Better to get an ultrasound if you are suspicious.

I am so worried about this too. My thyroid blood tests came back fine, but I feel a slight tightness when I swallow. Has anyone else experienced this and what tests did your doctor recommend first?

Haan beta, bilkul ho sakta hai. Hamare pados mein ek behen ka khun ka report normal tha par gale mein thodi soojan thi, phir doctor ne bada scan kiya tab pata chala. Aap bade doctor ko dikha lijiye, darna nahi hai.

Listen to the elders, child. Normal reports do not mean you should ignore a lump. While you must consult a good doctor for modern tests, you can also keep your throat calm by drinking warm water and avoiding frozen foods.

It is incredibly stressful to deal with this fear, and yes, thyroid cancer often doesn't affect your daily thyroid hormone levels at all. I went through the emotional rollercoaster of perfect blood reports but a positive biopsy. You are not alone, please take it one step at a time with a specialist.
