Can you have sepsis without a fever?

My neighbour was very unwell and ended up in hospital with sepsis, but her family said she never had a fever. I always thought fever was a main sign for something like that. Can you truly have sepsis without a fever, or is that rare?

Yes, you can. When my grandfather had a bad urinary infection, his body temperature actually dropped very low instead of a high fever, and he became totally confused. It is super dangerous, so don't wait around if someone looks really sick.

Yes, sepsis can actually cause a very low body temperature instead of a fever, especially in elderly people! Please keep an eye on other signs like fast breathing or extreme weakness. Stay safe and always consult a doc! 👍

My father always says that the body behaves strangely when an infection spreads. When his sister had sepsis, she had shivering but no thermometer fever. We immediately took her to the emergency room, which our family doctor said was the right decision.

Yes, you can definitely have sepsis without a fever. Sometimes the body's immune response gets overwhelmed, causing hypothermia or cold skin instead. This is a medical emergency, so please get to a hospital immediately if you suspect this.

Yes, sometimes there is no fever, only extreme tiredness or shivering. Please do not wait to see if a fever develops; reach out to a doctor right away for peace of mind.

According to my physician, sepsis in very young infants or older adults often presents with hypothermia (low body temperature under 96.8°F) rather than fever. Other critical signs include rapid heart rate and mental confusion. It must be treated as an absolute emergency.

Sepsis without fever is very real and requires immediate hospital admission. Don't worry about the costs of blood cultures and ICU fees initially; getting them to a government hospital or a trust hospital quickly can save lives and cut down huge bills.

Yes, it is possible. As someone managing high BP, I keep a close check on my vitals. If a person's blood pressure drops suddenly alongside a suspected infection, even without a fever, you must rush them to the clinic.
