Can you have rotavirus without vomiting?

My son has severe diarrhoea for a day now, and he's feeling very weak, but surprisingly he hasn't vomited. Can a child have rotavirus without any vomiting?

Honestly, yes you can totally have it without actually throwing up. Sometimes it just hits the stomach with bad diarrhea and mild fever instead. Don't stress too much, just keep sipping ORS and let the body recover.

Mere bete ko bhi bilkul vomiting nahi thi, bas severe loose motions ho gaye the. Maine use ghar pe dahi-chawal aur thoda petha ka juice diya jo stomach ko calm rakhta hai. Par please dhyan rakhna dehydration bilkul na ho.

Yes, vomiting is not always there but digestion gets completely ruined. Stick to very light, non-greasy vegetarian food like khichdi and avoid any dairy products for a few days. High-fiber foods can also irritate the gut right now, so keep it simple.

Actually yes, but getting a stool test done is the only way to be 100% sure. It costs around 500 to 800 rupees in most local labs, which is better than spending on unnecessary broad-spectrum medicines without knowing the real cause.

Haan, it can present only with loose stools and stomach pain. I usually suggest giving coconut water or ginger tea to soothe the lining, but if there is high fever or blood in stool, please go straight to a doctor instead of trying things at home.

Yes dear, our bodies react differently to these infections. Just stay positive and keep your mind calm while you rest. Take proper rest, keep drinking warm water, and let nature heal your system gently.

True, you can skip the vomiting part but the dehydration still drains your strength completely. Skip your workouts entirely and focus purely on electrolyte replenishment. Your muscles will feel totally flat, but recovery should be the only goal right now.

Yes, but if you have diabetes like me, watch out for the ORS packets you buy. Some are loaded with regular sugar which can spike your glucose. Ask your doc for a low-sugar hydration alternative if you are only dealing with loose motions.
