Can you have pcos without a uterus?

Several years ago, I had a hysterectomy, so my uterus is no longer there. However, I continue to experience symptoms that feel like hormonal imbalance, such as weight issues and hair growth. Can PCOS actually exist and cause symptoms even when a person doesn't have a uterus?

Yes, if the ovaries are still present, you can absolutely have PCOS without a uterus. Instead of wasting time reading unverified articles online, book an appointment with a reproductive endocrinologist. Get your blood work and insulin levels tested to manage it efficiently.

I totally get it, it can be so confusing to understand how PCOS works when you don't even have a uterus. But since PCOS is actually a hormonal and metabolic issue related to your ovaries and insulin, it can definitely continue. Please don't feel overwhelmed, getting a doctor's guidance will help you manage this.

My wife's doctor explained that PCOS is primarily an endocrine disorder, not a uterine disease. If you undergo a hysterectomy but retain your ovaries, the ovaries can still produce excess androgens and cause symptoms like facial hair and insulin resistance. Regular monitoring of your hormone panels is still necessary.

Yes, my dear, it is possible because the hormones come from the ovaries, not the uterus. Please don't worry too much and take care of your health by resting well and eating simple foods.

I have been dealing with thyroid and metabolic issues for years, and I know how complicated hormonal health is. Even without a uterus, you must get your regular thyroid and insulin tests done because all these glands are connected. Keep a close follow-up with your doctor to stay healthy.

Don't trust any of those online blogs claiming that a hysterectomy completely cures PCOS, that is biologically incorrect. If your ovaries are still there, they are the ones producing the hormones, not your uterus. Go to a certified medical professional to get your actual hormone levels verified.

Hey, don't get worked up about this. It is quite common for metabolic symptoms to persist if the ovaries are still intact, but it is highly manageable. Just focus on a healthy routine, eat well, and we will get it checked by a good specialist. You are going to be absolutely fine.

I have seen many ladies in our community ask this, and the simple answer is yes, as long as you have your ovaries, PCOS remains active. The best way to handle this is to focus on insulin sensitivity with moderate daily walks and a low-carb diet. Keep your doctor in the loop and stay positive!
