Can you have pcos with regular periods?

Struggling with weight gain and persistent acne, which my doctor thinks could be PCOS. But my menstrual cycle is quite regular, usually every 28-30 days. Is it possible to have PCOS even if your periods are perfectly normal and regular?

Yes, you can. I had regular periods but ignored my severe cystic acne and hair thinning for years, which later led to severe insulin resistance and fertility complications. Please do not assume regular cycles mean you are perfectly healthy, and consult a gynecologist for a proper scan.

Haan na, we always think regular periods means no PCOS, but that is actually a big myth. Many of my friends have perfectly timely cycles but still have cysts on their ovaries. It is always better to get a proper ultrasound done from a good clinic, ho na.

Even if your cycles are regular, managing your diet is crucial if you suspect PCOS. Focus on complex carbohydrates like whole wheat and brown rice, and cut down completely on sugary sweets. Eating healthy, home-cooked vegetarian meals can help control any underlying insulin resistance.

PCOS is diagnosed using the Rotterdam criteria, which means you only need two out of three symptoms: irregular periods, high male hormones, or polycystic ovaries. So, if you have the other two, you can easily have PCOS even with timely cycles. Get your fasting insulin and testosterone checked.

Honestly, I was shocked when my doctor diagnosed me with PCOS because my periods have always been exactly on time. But my persistent facial hair and weight gain were the main clues. It's totally possible, so definitely go get an ultrasound done to be sure.

I ignored my heavy abdominal weight gain and fatigue for years because my periods were regular, and I regret it so much now because it turned into pre-diabetes. Please do not make the same mistake I did. Go get a proper clinical checkup and blood tests done as soon as possible.
