Can you have pcos while having regular periods?

My gynaecologist mentioned that I might have PCOS, but my periods have always been quite regular, not erratic like I hear others with PCOS experience. Can you actually have a normal menstrual cycle even if you have PCOS?

Yes, absolutely! I have always had perfectly regular 28-day periods, so I never suspected anything until my acne and hair fall got out of hand. When I finally got an ultrasound, it showed cystic ovaries. Don't ignore other symptoms just because your periods are on time.

It is definitely possible to have PCOS with regular cycles, but please don't jump to conclusions on your own. It's a complex syndrome that requires meeting a specific set of clinical criteria like high androgens or cysts. I suggest consulting an endocrinologist to get a proper diagnosis.

When I visited Fortis for my regular checkup, the gynecologist explained that you can still have PCOS even if your periods are regular. They ran a complete blood panel to check my insulin and androgen levels. It's always best to ask your doctor clearly and get proper tests done.

Even if your cycles are regular, if you are constantly battling crazy sugar cravings and sudden weight gain around your belly, it could be a sign of insulin resistance linked to PCOS. I had to cut down on my late-night jalebi sessions and switch to healthier snacks, which helped my metabolism a lot.

Hormonal issues are very tricky, and having regular periods doesn't mean everything is completely balanced inside. I deal with thyroid issues and always ensure I get my blood tests and scans done every six months. Regular follow-ups with your doctor are crucial to catching these metabolic issues early.

I can only share my personal experience here. My periods were always on time, but I was diagnosed with PCOS because of severe facial hair growth and high testosterone levels in my blood tests. Everyone's body behaves differently, so it's best to consult a professional.

I totally get it, it is so confusing when you feel like something is wrong with your body but your periods are perfectly regular. It makes you doubt your own symptoms! Please trust your instincts and see a doctor to get a clear picture instead of stressing over it alone.

According to the Rotterdam criteria used by clinicians, you only need to meet two out of three conditions to be diagnosed with PCOS. So even if you have regular ovulation, having polycystic ovaries on an ultrasound and clinical signs of high androgens is enough for a diagnosis. You should consult a specialist for a proper hormonal evaluation.
