Can you have pcos and be skinny?

Recently diagnosed with PCOS, but I'm actually quite thin and have always been at a healthy weight. Most information I find about PCOS talks about weight gain, so I'm a bit confused. Is it possible to have PCOS even if you are not overweight or obese?

Yes, lean PCOS is definitely a thing, and it can be quite tricky to diagnose. I am quite skinny myself but I still have irregular cycles and cystic ovaries. Don't let anyone tell you that you can't have it just because of your weight; it's best to consult a good endocrinologist for a proper diagnosis.

Even if you are lean, focus on eating a high-protein, fiber-rich vegetarian diet to keep your insulin levels stable. Try incorporating things like soaked almonds, sprouts, and paneer instead of refined carbs like maida. Balanced meals make a huge difference in managing the internal symptoms of PCOS.

I have thyroid issues and am also on the leaner side, but my doctor always tells me that weight is not the only indicator of hormonal health. You should get regular blood work done, including thyroid panels and fasting insulin. Proper medical follow-ups are the only way to track what's happening inside.

Oh absolutely! Lean PCOS is super common and many of my thin friends have it too. 😊 Just focus on stress-free living, sleep well, and eat your veggies. You got this, don't worry too much! 👍

I was actually researching this online yesterday because my body weight is quite low but I have terrible acne and hair fall. It's so confusing when all the articles only talk about weight loss as a cure. It's comforting to know that other thin people are also searching for answers to this.

Even thin individuals can have high internal fat and insulin resistance, which is common in both diabetes and lean PCOS. Be very mindful of hidden sugars in packaged juices and bakery items. Focus on complex carbs and keep your sugar levels monitored under a doctor's supervision.

Please don't ignore your symptoms just because you are thin. I ignored my irregular cycles for years because my weight was normal, and it later led to severe fertility issues and insulin resistance complications. Get a proper pelvic scan and hormone assessment from a specialist early on.
