Can you have osteo and rheumatoid arthritis?

Diagnosed with osteoarthritis in my knees a few years ago, but lately, I've been having some new stiffness and swelling in my hands, especially in the mornings. My friend said it sounds like rheumatoid arthritis. Can a person have both osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis at the same time?

Yes, you can have both at the same time. Please take care of your joints and follow your doctor's advice gently.

Yes, you can have both. Massaging with warm sesame oil and taking turmeric milk can help reduce the stiffness, but you must consult a rheumatologist for proper long-term treatment.

I was just reading about this on a health blog. Apparently, RA is an autoimmune issue, but the joint wear and tear from it can eventually lead to osteoarthritis in those same joints. It sounds quite tough.

Honestly, my knees don't care about the medical labels, they just love making clicking sounds at 3 AM. But yes, you can absolutely win the double lottery of having both types of arthritis together.

Yes, many of our senior group members manage both. We usually combine medical treatment with low-impact exercises like walking or swimming to keep the joints mobile without putting too much stress on them.
