Can you have hashimoto's without a thyroid?

I had my thyroid removed due to an autoimmune condition a few years ago, and I'm on medication. But lately, I've been feeling very fatigued and having joint pains again. My original diagnosis was similar to Hashimoto's. Can someone still have Hashimoto's disease, or its effects, even after their thyroid has been removed?

Yes, child, because Hashimoto's is a disease of your body's immune system, not just the thyroid gland itself. Even if the gland is removed, the antibodies can remain in your blood. You must take your daily thyroid hormone pill on an empty stomach and avoid eating anything for an hour.

I know how terrifying it feels when you think you've solved a health issue with surgery only to find out the disease is still technically there. Yes, Hashimoto's antibodies can persist without a thyroid, but please don't worry too much—most people live a normal life with properly adjusted hormone replacement.

Yes, you can! The thyroid gland might be gone but the immune system antibodies are still there in your blood! Just keep taking your daily dose of medicine and stay bright and active!

Yes, you can still have the autoimmune response. Keeping up with a consistent, strength-training routine and eating a clean, anti-inflammatory diet really helped me manage the lingering fatigue after my surgery, but of course, keeping your thyroid medication balanced is key.

Since Hashimoto's is an autoimmune disorder, removing the thyroid gland doesn't eliminate the antibodies from your circulation. Practically, your main focus now is ensuring your daily levothyroxine replacement therapy keeps your TSH in the target range.

I made the mistake of skipping my endocrine follow-ups after my thyroid surgery, thinking the problem was gone forever. I ended up with severe joint pain and extreme weakness because my hormone dosage was all wrong. Please get your levels checked regularly.

It was so hard for me to accept that removing my thyroid didn't cure my autoimmune struggles. I still felt fatigued and down because those Hashimoto's antibodies were still active in my system. Please be gentle with yourself; healing takes a lot of time and patience.
