Can you have gastroenteritis without vomiting?

My stomach feels really off today, with cramps and a lot of nausea. I keep thinking I might have gastroenteritis, but I haven't thrown up. Is it possible to have a stomach bug like gastro without actually vomiting?

Yes, you can definitely have it with just loose motions and no vomiting. Instead of rushing for expensive private clinic tests right away, just consult a general physician first. They can usually diagnose it from your symptoms and save you some unnecessary medical expenses.

Please be very careful with stomach bugs, even if you are not throwing up. I once ignored a similar issue thinking it was minor, and it ended up causing severe dehydration that landed me in the hospital on an IV. It is always better to see a doctor early.

Yes, I had this last summer and honestly, the stomach cramps and constant bathroom trips were bad enough even without vomiting. I just drank lots of coconut water and took simple, home-cooked food. Just listen to your body and rest up.

Bro, yes! Last month I got this bad stomach bug during exams and I didn't puke even once, but my stomach was completely wrecked. Had to live on curd rice and ORS for three days straight just to survive the lectures.

I totally panicked when my son had watery stools but no vomiting, thinking it was some rare infection. But the pediatrician reassured me that it is very common for gastroenteritis to affect only the lower digestive tract. He got fine in a couple of days with just hydration.

While it is common to have stomach flu without vomiting, you should still get it checked by a qualified doctor. Any persistent digestive issue can lead to weakness or might be due to bacterial infections that require specific care, so do not self-treat for too long.
