Can you have gastro without vomiting?

I've been feeling quite sick to my stomach for a day, with a lot of cramping and nausea, and general weakness. I really dread vomiting. I'm wondering if it's possible to have gastroenteritis, or "gastro" as we call it, without actually throwing up.

Honestly, it is so draining when people think you are fine just because you are not throwing up. I had this last year with just terrible stomach cramps and loose motions, and the mental exhaustion was real. Please take rest and don't let anyone make you feel like it's not a real infection.

I am actually facing something similar right now but I don't have any vomiting, only severe nausea and a rumbling stomach. Is it really possible for it to be stomach flu without throwing up? Should I wait for a day or two before visiting a clinic?

Haan bilkul ho sakta hai, zaroori nahi ki vomiting ho hi. Mujhe jab last month hua tha toh bas pet mein dard aur heavy nausea tha, ulti bilkul nahi aayi. Apne sharir ko rest do aur thoda dhyan rakho na, dehydration jaldi ho jata hai.

Yes, it happens. The main thing is to prevent weakness, so start sipping ORS or warm salt-sugar water slowly throughout the day. Keep your food very light like dahi-chawal or simple khichdi, and don't rush to take heavy antibiotics without a doctor checking you first.

Yes, stomach flu doesn't always come with a standard checklist. Sometimes it's just diarrhea, cramps, and a mild fever. If your symptoms don't improve in 48 hours, just get a quick consultation done instead of guessing.

Oh man, stomach infections without vomiting are a different kind of torture because you still get those weird cravings but your gut just refuses to process anything. I had to survive on plain boiled rice and light buttermilk for four days recently even though my mind was screaming for biryani.

Totally agree with others, gastro can definitely happen without vomiting. Just make sure you are drinking coconut water to keep your electrolytes up.

From what I see daily, gastro infections can definitely manifest without active vomiting. Sometimes it is purely lower GI symptoms like watery stools and cramping. Focus on hydration with ORS and watch out for high fever or blood in stool, which need immediate medical attention.

I am feeling so relieved reading this because I have terrible stomach pain and diarrhea but no vomiting, and I was panicking that it might be something much worse. Did anyone else feel really weak and shaky even without throwing up?

Yes, you can. I had to take two days off work last month because of severe cramps and loose motions, even though I didn't vomit once. Don't try to pull through a full office day; just take rest and consult a doctor online to get some quick relief.

Yeah yaar, actually it is totally possible. Last time mujhe hua toh I thought normal acidity hai because ulti nahi aa rahi thi, but doc said it was a mild stomach bug. Just drink coconut water and take it easy for a few days.

Yes dear, gastroenteritis can absolutely happen without any vomiting. I have seen many family members get just the diarrhea and stomach ache part of it. Keep sipping on light liquids like buttermilk with a pinch of salt, and let your body heal gradually.

In our experience, yes, stomach infections can behave differently in everyone. You can drink warm water boiled with a little fennel seeds (saunf) to calm the inner lining. But please do not ignore it if the loose motions persist, and consult a physician.

Absolutely, it can present with just loose stools and mild cramps. When I had it, I avoided my heavy gym sessions but did very light stretching and short walks inside the house just to keep the blood flowing and feel active, but only do this if your doctor says your hydration is fine.
