Can you have colon cancer without polyps?

My doctor suggested a colonoscopy because of my age and some family history, and said they would look for polyps. My aunt had polyps which later turned out to be cancerous. But I was wondering, can someone still develop colon cancer even if they don't have polyps?

Look, usually colon cancer comes from polyps, but yes, there is a type called non-polyposis colon cancer which can start directly. Don't waste time thinking it's impossible. If you have concerns, just go and get a proper colonoscopy done.

Yes, some hereditary types like Lynch syndrome can cause cancer to develop directly in the colon wall without typical polyps. Track your family health history and discuss it with a doctor for specific genetic screening if needed.

Haan na, rare cases mein directly flat lesions se bhi cancer ho sakta hai, bina normal polyps ke. Doctor se consult karna hi best hai for proper advice ho na.

Yes, it is possible. Just like managing my diabetes teaches me that medical rules have exceptions, colon health is also complex. Don't rely on general assumptions; ask your doctor for specific screening tests.

Yes, it is possible in rare conditions. The most practical solution is to not overthink the technical details and just let a specialist do a colonoscopy. It's the standard test that catches both polyps and other abnormal tissue.
