Can you have a heart attack from weed?

My brother occasionally uses 'weed' with his friends and says it helps him relax. I'm worried about its long-term effects, especially on his heart. Can using weed potentially cause a heart attack?

Beta, in my long experience, I have seen that any kind of intoxicant can put unusual pressure on your body, especially the heart. While it might not always cause a direct attack, it can certainly raise your heart rate abnormally. It is best to stay away from these things and focus on a clean, simple lifestyle.

Honestly, sometimes my heart rate goes so high after smoking weed that I end up staying awake all night just listening to my chest thumping! It can definitely trigger severe panic attacks which feel exactly like a heart attack. If you already have heart issues, playing around with this is definitely not a good idea.

I have known people who experienced sudden chest pain and rapid heart rate after consuming weed, which can be very scary. It is a proven medical fact that cannabis can increase cardiac workload and trigger issues in susceptible individuals. Please be cautious and consult a doctor if you feel any chest discomfort.

My son's friend had to be rushed to the hospital with severe chest tightness and a racing heart after using cannabis at a party. It was a terrifying experience for the kids, and the doctors warned that it can indeed put a lot of strain on young hearts. Parents and youngsters should be aware of these real risks.

According to my cardiologist, smoking weed raises the resting heart rate and dilates blood vessels, which makes the heart pump much harder. He mentioned that this sudden cardiovascular strain can increase the risk of a heart attack shortly after use, especially if there is an underlying blockage. It is definitely something to discuss honestly with a doctor.
