Can you have a heart attack at 21?

My roommate is 21 and he's super health-conscious, but he had a brief episode of severe chest pain last week. It made me wonder if someone so young can experience something like that. Can you have a heart attack at 21?

While it is extremely rare at 21, it is not impossible if there is a hidden congenital issue or a family history of early heart disease. I always prefer going to a good hospital to get an ECG done whenever I have chest concerns. It is best to ask a cardiologist directly so they can run the right tests and give you clear answers.

Yes, absolutely, safety should come first. If you are experiencing sudden chest tightness or left arm pain right now, please go to the nearest clinic immediately.

Bro, I am 21 too and I get chest pains sometimes after pulling all-nighters for exams and drinking too much coffee. Most of the time it is just stress or bad gas from hostel food. But if the pain is actually bad and you feel dizzy, please tell your parents or go to the campus doc.

At 21, the chances of a typical heart attack are very low, as chest pain at this age is mostly due to acid reflux, anxiety, or muscle strain. However, underlying heart conditions can sometimes trigger issues, so we can't dismiss it completely. Pay attention to severe symptoms like cold sweats or breathlessness and seek immediate help if they occur.

Usually, young children and youths get chest discomfort from stomach gas or indigestion, which can be cured with a little fennel or carom seed water. But if the pain is heavy, radiating to the back or jaw, do not try any home remedies. Take them to a proper doctor immediately to check the heart.
