Can you have a heart attack at 18?

My college friend, who is only 18, had a sudden cardiac arrest last month, which was very scary. We always thought heart attacks were for much older people. Is it really possible for someone to have a heart attack at just 18?

While extremely rare, it is medically possible if there are underlying genetic heart issues or severe substance use. I have seen cases where congenital heart problems were detected only when a young person felt sudden chest pain. If you feel severe pressure or shortness of breath, go straight to an ER and get an ECG done.

At 18, it is highly unusual, but tracking your vitals can give you clear answers. I always monitor my heart rate and sleep patterns on my fitness band to spot any abnormalities. If you are experiencing sudden high spikes in resting heart rate alongside chest discomfort, definitely consult a doctor.

Actually yaar, 18 is too young for heart issues, but with our sleep cycles and stress, anything feels possible. Most of the time it is just anxiety or severe acidity from skipping meals. But if you are genuinely feeling suffocated, just go to a clinic and get it checked to be safe.

At 18, the only attack most of us get is from semester results or crush rejection! Jokes apart, a heart attack at this age is super rare unless there is a rare genetic issue. If your chest is hurting, it is probably just that extra-spicy street food, but do visit a doc if it doesn't stop.

Having PCOS made me realize how early lifestyle issues can start affecting our bodies. While a heart attack at 18 is very uncommon, it is best not to ignore severe chest discomfort or lightheadedness. Please visit a cardiologist to get a proper checkup for peace of mind.

I completely understand the anxiety behind this question, as health fears at a young age can be so terrifying. I used to panic constantly about my heart when I was 18 due to bad panic attacks. Please talk to someone and see a doctor to ease your mind, you don't have to carry this fear alone.
