Can you have a cdl with diabetes?

My friend has diabetes and drives a heavy vehicle for a living, but his company is now asking about medical certificates for CDL. Can you have a commercial driver's license (CDL) if you have diabetes? He's worried about losing his job.

Hey, my uncle actually drives commercial vehicles and he has diabetes too. He had to get a proper medical clearance certificate showing his sugar levels are stable and managed. It's totally possible, just a bit of extra paperwork.

Don't rely on random online forums or home advice for legal and medical stuff like a commercial driving license. The rules keep changing, so you must ask a certified government doctor or your local RTO authority directly.

Yes, you can! Just don't let the RTO officer see you eating a box of gulab jamuns while applying. Joking aside, as long as your blood sugar is under control and you have your medical fitness certificate ready, you are good to go.

Look, there is no straight 'no' here. If your diabetes is controlled with oral medicines and you don't have frequent hypo attacks, you can get it. Go to an authorized medical practitioner and get your fitness form signed.

Yes, you absolutely can keep your license, so please don't stress about it. Just focus on managing your daily diet and medicine routine properly so your health certificates always stay clear. We are here to support you.
