Can you have a bacterial infection without a fever?

My throat has been very sore, and I have swollen glands, but I don't have any fever. I thought bacterial infections always caused a fever. Can you have a bacterial infection even if you don't have a high temperature?

Is this actually possible? I am currently feeling so weak and have a bad throat but no temperature at all. Did anyone else here also have a confirmed infection without ever getting a fever?

Haan na, it happens many times. Fever is just our body's way of fighting back, but sometimes the body doesn't show a temp even if there is an infection. Best is to consult a doc and not take stress, ho na.

Yes, you definitely can. With my PCOS, my body's response to infections sometimes feels a bit different and slow, so I don't always get a fever. Please don't self-diagnose though, let a doctor do a quick blood test to be absolutely sure.

Yes, it is quite possible to not run a fever during an infection. Take plenty of rest, keep yourself warm, and see a doctor if you feel worse. Take care.

I just recovered from a severe bacterial stomach bug last week and honestly, my thermometer never went above 98.4. My doctor explained that sometimes local infections don't trigger a full-body fever response. Definitely go get a clinical checkup done.

As someone managing diabetes, I have to be very careful because infections can silently spike blood sugar levels even without causing a fever. It is always wise to get checked early. Also, focus on warm water and light, sugar-free meals while you recover.

I used to think fever is a must for any infection and panicked like crazy when my doc suggested antibiotics for my throat when I had normal temperature. Turns out it is completely normal. Don't worry at all, just follow what your doctor says.

I totally understand why you are worried, health doubts can make anyone feel very restless. But please rest assured, it is very common to have bacterial issues like UTIs or sinus infections without any fever. Take a deep breath and get a professional opinion to ease your mind.
