Can you hallucinate from no sleep?

My friend pulled an all-nighter for an exam, and he said he started seeing things moving in the corner of his eye and felt really disoriented. I thought he was just joking. Can genuinely no sleep actually cause someone to hallucinate?

Yes, extreme sleep deprivation can absolutely cause hallucinations and severely impact your heart rate and blood pressure. I always make sure to get 7 hours of sleep to keep my BP in check. If you are experiencing this, you must consult a doctor to fix your sleep cycle.

My grandmother always says that lack of sleep heats up the body and disturbs the mind, which is very true. Hallucinations can happen when the brain is too tired to process reality. Please consult a doctor if this is happening regularly, as proper rest is essential.

Haha yes, after 48 hours of gaming, even the walls start whispering your name! Don't worry, you aren't losing your mind, your brain is just desperately begging for a nap. Put the phone down, turn off the lights, and go to sleep.

When the mind is deprived of rest, the nervous system gets highly agitated, leading to sensory distortions. Practicing gentle pranayama or deep breathing before bed can help calm your mind. However, please prioritize sleep and seek medical help if the insomnia is severe.
