Can you get psoriasis later in life?

My elder brother recently developed some skin patches and doc is suspecting psoriasis. He's in his late 60s, so I was surprised as I always thought it was something that starts earlier. Can this condition really appear for the first time when someone is older?

Yes, psoriasis can absolutely develop later in life; there is a peak that occurs around the 50s and 60s. Since it is an autoimmune condition, getting a proper diagnosis from a dermatologist is always the best path forward.

Yes, late-onset psoriasis is quite common. Along with medical treatment, keeping active with daily brisk walking really helps reduce the chronic inflammation in the body. Just consult your doctor before starting any intense routine.

My uncle actually got it suddenly at 55. We always thought it only happens to younger people, but the doctor said it can trigger at any age due to stress or infections. Pretty wild how our bodies work.

Actually, my dad got diagnosed with psoriasis at 58, yaar. We were so confused initially, but the doc said late-onset is a real thing. It is totally manageable with the right topical ointments.

It can pop up later in life due to stress or metabolic changes. Keeping your diet clean and lifting weights can help keep your immune system in check, which helps manage the symptoms.

Yes, late-onset psoriasis is very real. Moisturizing regularly with a thick, fragrance-free cream makes a huge difference.

Yes, it can appear in old age too. While you must follow the doctor's prescription, applying fresh aloe vera gel can help soothe the burning skin. But don't ignore it if the patches start spreading rapidly.

Yes, you can get it later in life, but please make sure to get a proper biopsy or clinical exam. Sometimes other serious skin conditions look just like psoriasis in older adults, so safety first.
