Can you get pregnant with thyroid disease?

I have been dealing with thyroid disease for a while now, and my doctor has been managing my medication. My husband and I want to start trying for a baby. I wanted to ask, can you get pregnant successfully with thyroid disease?

Haan, it is very much possible! I tried so many home remedies like coriander seed water and lifestyle changes, which helped me feel better, but honestly, you still need your daily pill. Just balance your home care with the doctor's prescription and you will be fine.

I have been trying to conceive with a high TSH level and I get so anxious reading about complications online. Did anyone else here take a long time to get pregnant because of thyroid? It feels so lonely sometimes.

Yes, absolutely! I have thyroid too and had the same worry. I just made sure to take my medicine first thing in the morning without fail. Once your TSH is stabilized, conceiving is usually not an issue, so don't worry too much.

Just like how I manage my HbA1c levels before any big change, thyroid levels also need to be strictly in the safe range for pregnancy. Watch your diet, cut down on processed foods, and make sure your TSH is monitored by an endocrinologist regularly.

I was just diagnosed with hypothyroidism last week and we were planning for a baby. It is a bit overwhelming for me. Do the doctors change the medicine dosage once you get pregnant, or does it remain the same?

Many of my patients ask this. The key is regular monitoring because your thyroid hormone requirement goes up during pregnancy. Keep a track of your monthly blood tests and never adjust your tablet dosage on your own.

Listen, don't overcomplicate this. Millions of women with thyroid issues have kids every single day. Just go to a good gynac, get the thyroid test done, and take the small pill they give you. That's all you need to do.
