Can you get ovarian cancer after a hysterectomy?

Many years ago, I had a hysterectomy due to some complications. Recently, a friend of mine was diagnosed with ovarian cancer, which made me worried. I wanted to ask, can you still get ovarian cancer after a hysterectomy?

I totally get it, navigating health questions after such a major surgery can be so overwhelming. If your ovaries were left behind during the surgery, the risk remains, so please keep in touch with your doctor.

Haan na, actually if ovaries are still inside, then risk toh rehta hi hai. But if they removed everything, then chances are very less. Ek baar doctor se check up karva lo safe side ke liye.

Please don't go by advice on online forums for such serious matters. It completely depends on whether they did a partial or total hysterectomy; only your surgeon can clarify your actual risk.

It depends on whether you had a bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy along with the hysterectomy. You can track your symptoms and surgical history on health apps, but definitely confirm the details with your gynecologist.

I have been worrying about this same thing since my surgery last year. Does anyone else get random pelvic pains and feel scared that something might be wrong even after a hysterectomy?

Yes, if the ovaries were not removed, they can still be affected. Along with gentle yoga to keep the body peaceful, regular medical screening is very essential after such surgeries.

When my sister had her surgery at Apollo, the doctors clearly explained that since her ovaries were not removed, she still needed regular checkups. You must ask your doctor clearly about what exactly was removed.
