Can you get meningitis without a fever?

My child has been complaining of a stiff neck and headache, but he doesn't have a fever. I'm worried about meningitis because of something I read online. Can you get meningitis without a fever?

Yes, you can sometimes have it without a high temperature. It is a serious condition, so don't try to exercise or walk it off. Seek medical help immediately.

While home remedies are good for normal head aches, meningitis is too dangerous to ignore even if there is no fever. You must go to a hospital immediately as this is a medical emergency.

I didn't know meningitis could happen without fever. Are there other signs like vomiting or confusion that we should look out for in this case?

My son had viral meningitis and he barely had any fever at the start, just a very stiff neck and severe headache. Please don't wait for a fever to develop; take them to the emergency room right now.

It is so terrifying when you feel very sick but don't have a fever, because people don't believe you. But yes, atypical meningitis can present without fever. Please trust your body and seek urgent help.

My elders always said a disease without fever is just cold, but for things like brain infections, we cannot risk it. If you suspect meningitis, please consult a doctor immediately without delay.

Meningitis is a major brain infection, and yes, fever is not always present. This is not something you can cure with diet or rest, so please head to the hospital immediately.

Yes bro, it is definitely possible and highly dangerous. If your neck is stiff and light is hurting your eyes, don't wait around. Get to a hospital emergency room immediately.

I had bacterial meningitis and the delay in my diagnosis because I lacked a high fever initially led to severe neurological complications. Please do not risk it—go to the nearest hospital right now.

In our days, we used to drink herbal decoctions for headaches, but brain infections are different. If you suspect meningitis, no home remedy will help. Please go see a doctor immediately.

Yes, atypical presentations do happen. We went straight to Kokilaben Hospital when my relative showed confusion without fever, and they diagnosed it quickly. Please ask a doctor clearly and get admitted if needed.

Meningitis can indeed present atypically without a fever, especially in infants, the elderly, or immunocompromised individuals. Given the severity of this condition, immediate evaluation by a doctor is absolutely critical.
