Can you get hepatitis a twice?

A friend of mine had hepatitis A some years ago. He was recently exposed to a known case and now he's worried. I wanted to know, once you've had hepatitis A, can you actually get it a second time?

Once you recover from Hepatitis A, your body naturally builds lifelong immunity against it, so you generally cannot get it a second time. I hope this brings you some peace of mind.

No, you cannot get Hepatitis A twice. Once you have had it, your body develops antibodies that protect you for life.

Haan bhai, once you get it, body mein permanent immunity ban jaati hai na. Toh phir se hone ka chance nahi hota. Par haan, baki type ke hepatitis se bachne ke liye dhyaan rakhna padta hai.

My family physician explained that the body produces specific IgG antibodies during a Hepatitis A infection, which provides lifelong protection. So reinfection is practically impossible, though other hepatitis strains like B or E can still infect you.

Actually yaar, Hepatitis A is a one-time thing only. Once you recover, you are immune for life. But make sure it was actually type A and not B or C, because those are completely different.

Medical literature shows that Hepatitis A does not cause chronic infection and confers lifelong immunity after recovery. However, to confirm your antibody status or rule out other liver issues, it is always best to consult a doctor.

Look, simple answer is no. Hepatitis A once done is done, your body won't get it again. Just drink clean water, eat hygienic food, and stop worrying about things that won't happen.

No, you don't get Hepatitis A twice as the immunity lasts forever. But just like keeping an eye on thyroid levels with regular blood tests, it is good practice to get routine health checkups to ensure your liver enzymes are normal.

I completely understand how scary it is to worry about falling sick with the same painful infection again. Fortunately, you can breathe a sigh of relief because Hepatitis A is a one-time occurrence. You are safe from getting it again.

I was so worried about getting reinfected when I had jaundice years ago, but my doctor reassured me that Hepatitis A doesn't strike twice. Still, I always overthink and double-check my liver function tests just to be absolutely sure everything is fine.
