Can you get gallbladder pain without gallbladder?

My aunt had her gallbladder removed a few years ago, but she still complains of severe pain in the same area. The doctors are saying it's not related to anything new. Is it possible to still experience gallbladder pain even after your gallbladder has been removed?

Yes, actually! I had my gallbladder removed last year and still got that same sharp pain on my right side. My doctor told me it's called Post-Cholecystectomy Syndrome. It was just a small bile duct issue and got resolved with medication.

Yes, you can still feel similar pain due to bile issues or phantom pain. Do consult your surgeon soon.

Look, if the gallbladder is gone, the pain could be because of gas, acidity, or some stone left in the bile duct. Don't sit on it or ignore it, go back to your doctor and get an ultrasound done.

My mother is scheduled for gallbladder surgery next week and now I am really scared reading this. Does this pain happen to everyone after surgery, or is it a rare complication? Please let me know.

I completely understand how terrifying it is to feel that horrible pain again after going through a whole surgery. I also panicked thinking the surgery failed. Please take a deep breath, it is a known medical issue and doctors can easily treat it.

My body is so dramatic that even after losing my gallbladder, it likes to pretend it's still there and hurting! It is usually just heavy acidity or fatty food reacting. Just eat simple boiled food for a few days.

Oh my, please don't take this lightly. It could be some blockage in the hepatic duct or even pancreas irritation which can become serious. Please visit a gastroenterologist immediately to rule out anything risky.
