Can you get eczema from stress?

Lately, I've been under a lot of pressure at work, and my skin has started getting really dry and itchy in patches. My friend mentioned that stress can cause skin problems, almost like eczema. Is it possible to develop eczema just because of stress?

While stress is a well-known trigger that can cause severe flare-ups, you should never assume skin rashes are purely due to stress. It could be an allergic reaction or an infection that needs specific medication. Please get it diagnosed by a dermatologist first.

I was actually reading a medical blog about the mind-skin connection recently. It's fascinating how high stress levels release cortisol, which weakens our skin barrier and makes us break out in itchy eczema patches. Our bodies are so interconnected!

Honestly, between my night shifts and crying baby, my sleep is zero and my stress is at an all-time high. And yes, my skin has paid the price with itchy patches on my hands. If anyone find a way to cure stress, please let me know, because my moisturizer budget is running out!

Absolutely, my smartwatch health tracker always shows a spike in my stress levels right before my skin starts flaking and itching. I've started tracking my flare-ups alongside my daily stress scores and sleep quality, and there is definitely a direct link. Meditating for even ten minutes helps.

Yes, stress is a major trigger for skin flare-ups. Taking warm baths and getting enough sleep can help calm it down.

With my PCOS, I know how easily stress throws our hormones out of balance and ruins our skin. I sometimes get itchy patches on my neck when my anxiety levels are very high. I can't say for sure if stress is the only cause for you, but finding ways to calm down definitely helps the skin.
