Can you get disability for asthma and copd?

My breathing problems from asthma and COPD make it hard to do anything without getting breathless. I've had to stop working because of it. Is it possible to get disability for both asthma and COPD?

Yes, you definitely can if your lungs are severely affected! 🌸 The process takes some patience with government offices, but it is very much possible. Keep all your reports ready and don't lose hope, things will work out! 😊

I manage my high blood pressure with regular walking and keeping a strict eye on my health. For chronic lung issues like COPD, getting a disability certificate is possible if your lung function is very low. You will need a spirometry test report and a certified doctor's recommendation.

Please be very careful with severe breathing issues. My uncle had COPD and we delayed getting proper medical intervention, which led to a major hospital emergency. Before worrying about the disability paperwork, make sure you are seeing a pulmonologist regularly to manage your oxygen levels safely.

Dealing with restricted breathing is a very difficult journey. While you apply for the official benefits, please try very gentle pranayama like Anulom Vilom under expert guidance if your doctor allows. It helped me regain some peace and lung capacity during my own health struggles.

Getting the disability card can save you a lot of money on future medical treatments and travel, but the initial tests like PFT can be costly in private clinics. Try to get these tests done at a government medical college hospital. It takes more time but will save you thousands of rupees.

I was researching this for a relative and found that respiratory diseases can qualify for disability if there is permanent damage. Apparently, they check your FEV1 levels from the lung function tests. It's quite interesting how detailed the government criteria are for respiratory cases.

Yes, dear friend, you can apply. You need to register on the central UDID website first, and then they will assign you a date at the local government hospital for assessment. Make sure to carry all your old oxygen prescription papers and discharge summaries; it makes the process much smoother.
