Can you get diabetes from stress?

I've been under immense stress at work lately, and it's taking a toll on my health. My appetite is off, and I'm always tired. Can you actually get diabetes from being under too much stress?

Yes, chronic stress raises cortisol levels, which can cause insulin resistance and spike your blood sugar. I've seen many people in our community whose sugars went up during high-stress periods. It's very important to manage stress alongside diet.

Stress definitely plays a big role in raising sugar levels. A simple, workable solution is to take a 20-minute walk after dinner and listen to light music. It helps calm your mind and naturally lowers your blood sugar without any cost.

Stress hormones can certainly impair glucose tolerance, but diabetes has multiple underlying causes like genetics and weight. If you are experiencing symptoms like constant fatigue or excessive thirst during stressful times, please consult a physician for a proper HbA1c test.

I totally get it, when we are stressed, everything in our body feels out of balance. Stress can indeed raise blood glucose because of cortisol. Please take some time for yourself to rest, and don't hesitate to seek support.

With PCOS, I know how easily stress can disrupt our hormones and insulin levels. While stress alone might not be the sole cause of diabetes, it definitely acts as a major catalyst. It's always best to work with a doctor to keep an eye on your overall metabolic health.

I actually noticed my sugar levels fluctuating a lot during my final exams last year due to stress. It really opened my eyes to how mind and body are connected. Trying a short 10-minute meditation really helped me stay grounded.
