Can you get dengue multiple times?

I got dengue two years back, and it was a really tough experience. With the monsoon season starting, I'm worried again. Can you get dengue multiple times, or does having it once make you immune?

Hey, yes you can actually get it again because there are different virus strains, but please don't stress too much. Just keep your mosquito repellent handy and use those patches. If you feel sick, just rest up and we will get through it!

Arey, getting it once was not enough torture that the mosquitoes want to visit us again! Yes, unfortunately, there are four types of dengue, so you can get it up to four times. We have to become full-time mosquito hunters in our own houses now.

Yes, medically speaking, there are 4 serotypes of the dengue virus, so you can get infected again. I keep a symptom tracker on my smartwatch and monitor my hydration levels carefully. Best way is to prevent bites by using good vaporizers and checking for stagnant water around.

Yes, you can get it again, so we can't be careless. The most practical thing is to put wire mesh on all windows and make sure the society spray guys come regularly. Keep some papaya leaf juice or coconut water at home just for general health, but consult a doctor if fever starts.

When my sister was admitted to a reputed private hospital last year, the senior consultant clearly told us that a second infection can sometimes be more severe. Don't take any fever lightly if you've had dengue before. Go see your doctor immediately and get your platelets checked.
