Can you get braces with cavities?
My orthodontist said I need braces to fix my teeth, but I also have a couple of small cavities that need fillings. Can you still get braces if you have cavities, or do they need to be treated first?

No, you can't get braces put on if you have active cavities. It's a waste of time to go for a fitting before getting them filled, because your dentist will send you back anyway.

I believe you need to treat all cavities first. Having poor dental health can make the braces treatment very painful and complicated. It is best to consult your dentist for a clear plan.

My daughter had to get three fillings done before her orthodontist even touched her teeth for braces. It is much safer to clear all decay first so the teeth are strong.

Yes dear, getting fillings done is the very first step. Once the teeth are clean and decay-free, the orthodontist can safely apply the braces without any future trouble.

Hey! Actually, they will fill up all your cavities first before starting the braces journey. It's much better that way so your teeth stay healthy under the metal! 😁

You definitely need to clear the cavities first. I tracked my dental treatment schedule on an app, and the dentist strictly marked 'fillings completed' before releasing my braces timeline.

Don't listen to anyone saying you can just ignore cavities with braces. If you put brackets over decaying teeth, the decay will worsen rapidly. Verify this directly with a qualified dentist.

No way, you have to get them filled first! When I had my braces done, I had to fix my sweet-tooth damage first so the dentist could safely put the brackets on.
