Can you get asthma later in life?

My father is 68 years old, and he's suddenly developed this persistent cough and shortness of breath that acts up at night. We're wondering if he could have developed asthma at this age. Can you get asthma later in life?

Actually, yes yaar. My uncle got diagnosed with asthma at 55. We thought it was just age-related weakness, but the doc said late-onset asthma is very possible.

Yes, late-onset asthma can happen. My grandmother used to say warm herbal decoctions help, but we took my uncle to a specialist, and his inhaler treatment has been the safest solution.

Yes, it can develop later in life. If your doctor allows, doing regular light walks can help maintain your cardiorespiratory fitness and manage the symptoms better.

Yes, asthma doesn't care about your birth certificate! It can show up in your 50s like an uninvited party guest. Just get a proper inhaler and carry on with life.

Please don't ignore it. I thought my breathing struggle at age 45 was just lack of stamina, but ignoring it made my lung health worse. Get checked by a pulmonologist immediately.
