Can you get asthma from pneumonia?

I recovered from a severe pneumonia infection a few months ago, but I still find myself getting breathless very easily. My wife is worried that I might have developed asthma because of it. Is it possible to get asthma after pneumonia?

In our family, elders say severe lung infections can leave the chest sensitive. My doctor also explained that pneumonia can damage airways, leading to asthma-like symptoms later. Please trust your doctor's treatment.

Yes, pneumonia can inflame the airways and sometimes trigger asthma. I use a spirometer app to monitor my lung capacity recovery post-infection, it really helps track progress.

Yes, severe infections like pneumonia can sometimes trigger asthma, especially if your lungs remain weak. Do take good rest and follow your doctor's advice.

I have been worrying about this too since my dad got pneumonia. I read that severe lung infections can permanently sensitize the airways. I hope you are recovering well, please see a doctor soon.

Actually, yes yaar. Severe lung infection like pneumonia can sensitize your respiratory tract, leading to asthma. It happened to my friend, but he is doing great now with regular meds.

Yes, post-infectious bronchial hyperreactivity can occur after severe pneumonia, which basically mimics asthma. My doctor told me that the airway inflammation can persist for months, so regular follow-ups are crucial.

Haan, jab fefde kamzor ho jate hain pneumonia ke baad, toh asthma ki shikayat ho sakti hai. Aap bilkul chinta mat kijiye, doctor babu ki dawa samay par khaiye, sab theek hoga.

Pneumonia can leave your lungs weak, which sometimes leads to asthma. Once your doctor gives permission, light breathing exercises and slow walking can help restore your lung strength.

Yes, any major infection like pneumonia can trigger chronic issues like asthma. For people with diabetes, healing is slower, so we must be very careful with lung health and eat clean.

I didn't know pneumonia could actually turn into asthma. Does the wheezing start immediately after recovery, or does it take a few months to show up?

Yes, it can happen because your lungs take a heavy hit during pneumonia. But don't stress too much, buddy, with proper rest and inhalers, you will get back to normal soon.

Yes, a bad bout of pneumonia can leave the airways highly reactive, which can trigger asthma. Don't worry, just keep taking steam and consult your pulmonologist for a post-recovery checkup.
