Can you get arthritis in one finger?

My index finger on my right hand has been really painful and swollen lately, but none of my other joints bother me. A neighbor mentioned it could be arthritis, but I thought arthritis affects many joints. Can you actually get arthritis affecting just one single finger?

Yes, you can absolutely get arthritis in just one finger, especially if you had an old injury there. You can try soaking it in warm water with rock salt for relief. But if there is severe pain or deformity, do consult an orthopedic doctor.

Oh, this would make me so anxious too! But yes, post-traumatic arthritis can happen in just one single joint if you hit it somewhere earlier. Don't worry too much, just show it to a doctor to clear your mind.

Yes, localized arthritis is possible in one finger. When I go for my routine BP and blood checkups, my doctor always checks my joints too. Keeping overall inflammation down through healthy eating really helps.

I can only speak from my own experience as an athlete. I developed osteoarthritis in my right index finger after a bad sprain during training. It doesn't affect my other fingers, just that one specific joint.

It was so frustrating for me when only my thumb started hurting and I couldn't even hold a teacup properly. People didn't take it seriously because it was 'just one finger'. I feel your pain, please be gentle with yourself.

Yes, it can happen in a single finger joint. While you treat it, keep the rest of your body active with regular walking or light cardio. It keeps blood circulation good which helps in healing.

Yes, you can, and please get it checked. I ignored pain in my middle finger for a year thinking it was a cricket injury, and now the joint is permanently stiff. Don't make my mistake, go to a doctor.

I didn't know this could happen in just one finger. My ring finger has been hurting and swelling slightly since last week. Does it mean I should get a blood test done for arthritis?

My index finger joint used to swell a lot due to early arthritis. I started applying warm turmeric paste mixed with a little mustard oil, and it gave me great relief. Try it, it is very safe and soothing.
