Can you get arthritis from cracking your neck?

To relieve some stiffness, I often crack my neck, which gives me temporary relief. However, my colleague recently told me it's very bad for the joints and can lead to arthritis down the line. Is it true that cracking your neck can cause arthritis?

My grandmother always warned us against cracking the neck, saying it damages the nerves. But when I asked our family doctor, he said while it doesn't cause arthritis directly, doing it forcefully can strain the neck muscles. Better to be gentle, na?

For neck stiffness, instead of cracking it repeatedly, try applying a warm heating pad or some hot herbal oil. If you are experiencing sharp pain or numbness that spreads to your shoulders, please don't try to crack it at all and go see a doctor immediately.

I used to crack my neck constantly due to desk job stiffness until I ended up with a bad muscle spasm. Trust me, it won't cause arthritis, but it hyper-extends your ligaments which is dangerous. Do basic neck stretches every hour instead of cracking.

Cracking the neck might give temporary relief, but if you have high BP like me, neck stiffness can sometimes be related to stress or pressure. Please monitor your lifestyle and get your regular checkups done instead of just popping the joints.

Please be very careful with your neck. I ignored constant neck cracking and pain, thinking it was just work stress, till it turned into a serious cervical issue. Get it checked by an orthopedist before it gets worse.

Honestly, I only crack my neck when I am stuffed after a heavy biryani meal and trying to sit comfortably! It does not cause arthritis, but don't do it too hard or you might ruin your dinner mood with a sprain.

My fitness tracker actually alerts me to stand up and stretch when I sit static for too long. Cracking the neck doesn't cause arthritis, but it's a sign your posture is bad. Try some simple neck rotation exercises instead.

My son had this habit of cracking his neck while studying for exams due to stress. We took him to a physiotherapist who said it won't cause arthritis, but we must correct his study chair height to stop the urge.
