Can you get arthritis from cracking your knuckles?

For years, I've been cracking my knuckles without thinking much about it. My mother keeps saying that I'll end up with arthritis because of this habit when I get older. Is there any scientific basis to the claim that cracking knuckles causes arthritis?

Oh god, I used to panic so much about this and thought my hands would stop working by 30! I actually went to an ortho and he literally laughed and said it's just nitrogen gas bubbles. It is completely normal, so you can relax.

While knuckle cracking itself is fine, please don't ignore it if you feel real stiffness or pain there. I ignored minor finger stiffness years ago thinking it's just fatigue, and now I have chronic joint issues. Get a proper checkup if you feel even a little bit of pain.

I totally understand why you are asking this, health anxiety makes us doubt everything we do. But honestly, cracking knuckles is completely safe. Science has proven it doesn't cause arthritis, so take a deep breath.

Cracking knuckles won't cause arthritis, but as someone managing diabetes, I know how important joint health is. Keep your blood sugar in check and eat a balanced diet to prevent real joint inflammation. That is far more important.

Aah, don't worry about arthritis from this. But if your hands feel tired or dry, try applying a little warm sesame oil on your fingers before sleeping. It keeps the skin soft and the fingers feel very light next morning.

From what I have read, normal knuckle cracking doesn't lead to arthritis. But since body inflammation can trigger many things, it's always good to stay active and eat clean. If you feel any unusual swelling, just show it to a family doctor.

Arrey kuch nahi hota yaar. It is just a myth we have been hearing since childhood. Keep cracking them if you want, but don't do it so hard that you actually sprain your finger!
