Can you get arthritis from cracking your fingers?

Cracking my fingers is a nervous habit I picked up years ago, and my wife always tells me I'll get arthritis because of it. There are so many myths about this, so I wanted to ask properly. Does cracking your fingers really lead to arthritis in the long run?

Arrey chill maro, mere mom bhi hamesha danti thi ispe jab main dining table par baithta tha. If this was true, I would have got arthritis years ago with the amount of fingers I crack while waiting for my food order! Grab some momos and relax, it is just a myth.

I literally asked my ortho about this last month when I went for my wrist pain treatment. He clearly said cracking fingers just releases gas bubbles from the joint fluid, it doesn't cause arthritis. I have recovered fully from my actual joint issue now, so don't worry about this habit.

Don't get scared by reading random things on WhatsApp, okay? Cracking your knuckles is just harmless gas bubbles popping. Just try to reduce it slowly so your joints don't get loose over time, but sleep peacefully tonight, nothing is wrong.

Listen buddy, don't stress too much about this. Everyone's dadi-nani has told them this story to make them stop that popping sound. It does not cause arthritis at all, though it might annoy the people sitting next to you, haha!

Beta, physically it might not cause big diseases like arthritis, but doing it too much is not good for the grip strength of your hands. Try massaging your fingers with warm mustard oil once a week. It keeps the joints smooth and healthy naturally.

No scientific link between the two, so don't waste time overthinking this. I crack my knuckles during long coding sessions all the time. Just keep your posture right and take brief breaks from your keyboard.

No need to waste money on expensive bone density tests or doctor consultations for this cracking sound. Save that cash for actual medical emergencies. Unless you have actual swelling or sharp pain in your joints, you are totally fine.

True, it is absolutely a myth. If your fingers start hurting or swelling though, then definitely check with an orthopedist instead of ignoring it.
