Can you get arthritis at 16?

I'm only 16, but lately, I've been having some joint pain, especially in my knees and fingers. My friend joked that I'm getting 'buddha' and might have arthritis, which actually scared me a bit. Can someone really get arthritis at such a young age?

Yes, arthritis can happen to teens, but don't spend hours searching online. Schedule an appointment with a pediatric rheumatologist to get a proper diagnosis and start management early to avoid joint damage. Keep it practical and consult the right specialist.

I panicked so much when my younger cousin was diagnosed with joint pain at 16, thinking it only happens to old people. But we learned about Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis, which is actually normal and treatable. With proper medication, he is doing perfectly fine now.

Yes, it is possible and is usually called juvenile arthritis. You should definitely get it checked by a rheumatologist.

I completely understand how scary it feels to hear the word arthritis at 16. It is definitely possible, but with early medical care and gentle exercises, you can live a completely normal and active life. Please don't lose hope and speak to your doctor.

My school friend was diagnosed with juvenile arthritis when we were 16. He used to get swollen knees, but after starting treatment with a specialist, he was back to playing football with us in a few months.

I have been experiencing a lot of stiffness in my fingers lately and I am only 16. I didn't know someone my age could get this. Do the doctors usually suggest blood tests to confirm it?
