Can you get a urinary tract infection from kidney stones?

My mother often suffers from both kidney stones and recurrent UTIs. We are trying to understand if these two conditions are somehow related to each other. Can kidney stones actually lead to or cause urinary tract infections?

Yes, kidney stones can block the flow of urine, which allows bacteria to build up and cause a UTI. It is a very common complication. If you have fever or severe pain along with irritation, please see a doctor right away.

Oh God, I had to stop eating my favorite spicy snacks and chocolates when I got kidney stones. The blockage actually triggered a really bad UTI for me. Drinking tons of water is the only way out, but definitely see a doctor first.

Haan, bilkul ho sakta hai. Kidney stones ki wajah se urine thoda block ho jata hai na, toh infection hone ka risk bohot badh jata hai. Agar burning sensation ho rahi hai toh turant doctor ko dikhao, ignore mat karna.

Had this exact issue last year. The stone was blocking my tract, and within two days I got a painful UTI. The doctor had to clear the infection with antibiotics before treating the stone. Don't sit on it, go to a clinic.

With my thyroid issues, I have to be very careful with any infections or physical stress. Kidney stones can block the urinary tract and lead to persistent UTIs. Please get regular urine tests and follow up closely with your doctor.

My grandmother used to suggest drinking barley water to clear out stones and infections, which helps with hydration. However, kidney stones blocking urine can cause serious bacterial infections. It is best to consult a urologist for proper treatment.
