Can you get a tattoo with type 2 diabetes?

I have Type 2 diabetes, and I've been considering getting a small tattoo for a long time. My friend mentioned that people with diabetes might have issues with healing or infection after a tattoo. Is it safe for someone with type 2 diabetes to get a tattoo?

My uncle has type 2 diabetes and he got a tattoo last month. His doctor told him it is fine as long as his blood sugar levels are strictly under control, otherwise the healing takes way too long. Just make sure you go to a super hygienic studio.

Oh god, please be extremely careful about this! With diabetes, even small cuts can sometimes take forever to heal and get infected easily. Make sure your sugar levels are totally stable and ask your doctor twice before taking any risk with needles.

I have been managing my diabetes for twenty years now. You can certainly get a tattoo, but do not ignore your daily readings. If your HbA1c is high, wait until you bring it down to a safe range, as high sugar slows down skin healing significantly.

I can barely manage my sleep schedule, let alone diabetes, but my buddy who has type 2 got a massive tattoo. He had to keep showing his sugar levels to his artist because high blood sugar and fresh open wounds do not go well together. Just keep a close eye on it.

When the body's internal balance is stable, the skin heals much better. If you keep your diabetes managed with a proper diet and gentle lifestyle habits, a tattoo is usually fine. Just monitor your skin closely for any redness or heat during the healing phase.
