Can you get a tattoo on eczema?

I've always wanted to get a tattoo, but I have mild eczema on some parts of my body. My biggest concern is if getting a tattoo on or near those areas would be safe or if it could cause a flare-up. Can people with eczema actually get tattoos?

Just like managing my thyroid, keeping skin conditions in check requires regular doctor visits. Getting a tattoo directly on an eczema flare-up is risky because the skin barrier is already broken and sensitive. Better to consult your dermatologist before going ahead with it.

I know how frustrating it is to deal with eczema, especially when you want to get cool body art like everyone else but feel limited by your skin. But honestly, tattooing over active eczema can trigger a massive flare-up or severe infection. It is really not worth the painful struggle.

I totally get it, you must be really excited to get your tattoo but worried about the patches. It is best to avoid tattooing any area that has active eczema to prevent bad reactions. Wait for the skin to heal completely first, okay?

I was super stressed about this last year because I had minor eczema on my arm. But my tattoo artist and doctor reassured me that as long as we choose a completely clear, non-affected patch of skin, it is absolutely fine. Got my tattoo on a clear spot and had zero issues.

Never get a tattoo directly on an active eczema patch, that is just inviting an infection. Any professional tattoo artist in the city will tell you the same and refuse to do it. Find a spot on your body where the skin is completely healthy and normal.

Skin health is closely tied to your overall immunity and diet. Tattooing over compromised eczema skin can lead to infection and delay healing, which might even mess up your workout schedule. Try to get your skin healthy first through a clean diet before getting inked.
