Can you get a stroke from cracking your neck?

I have this habit of cracking my neck quite often, sometimes it gives a lot of relief. My friend warned me that it could actually lead to a stroke, which really scared me. Is there any truth to this, can cracking your neck really be that dangerous?

Ho na, even I used to do this so casually until I read about it. Some rare cases happen because a small artery in the neck can get damaged if you twist it too hard. It is better to avoid doing it yourself, very risky practice.

Great, now I have a new anxiety unlocked while sitting up at 3 AM. Honestly, I crack my neck like ten times a day because of this screen strain. Guess I will have to stop doing that unless I want to end up in the ER.

I used to crack my neck constantly until my physiotherapist saw me doing it and got angry. She told me it can strain the delicate nerves and blood vessels there. Since then, I have completely stopped doing it and just do simple neck stretches instead.

Just like we have to be extremely careful with our blood sugar and circulation to avoid strokes, neck cracking is also something to watch out for. A violent jerk can injure the blood vessels leading to the brain. Please let a professional therapist handle any joint issues.

Please be very careful. A friend of mine suffered a severe neck injury after a rough massage that involved twisting the head. It can actually cause a tear in the artery and lead to a stroke. If you have chronic neck stiffness, see an orthopedic doctor immediately rather than cracking it.
