Can you get a migraine from not eating?

Sometimes, if I skip a meal or don't eat on time, I end up with a terrible headache that feels just like a migraine. My colleagues say it's just hunger, but it feels more serious. Can a lack of food actually trigger a migraine?

I was actually researching this yesterday because I skipped breakfast and my head started throbbing by noon. Apparently, skipping meals causes your blood sugar levels to drop, which triggers a stress response in the brain and can easily set off a migraine attack.

Yes, empty stomach is a big reason for headache. Try to drink some warm ginger water or have a handful of soaked almonds if you are running late. But if your headache is very severe or you feel dizzy, don't wait, go to the doctor.

Absolutely, fasting or long gaps between meals is a classic trigger. If you have a busy job, just keep a packet of biscuits or some fruits at your desk. Taking small, frequent meals is the easiest way to prevent these sudden empty-stomach headaches.

Haan babu, khana samay pe nahi khaoge toh sar mein dard toh hoga hi. Humare yahan kehte hain ki pet khali rehne se gas banti hai jo sar ko chadhti hai. Aap koshish kariye ki har thodi der mein kuch halka-fulka khate rahein.

My college-going daughter used to skip meals for early classes and come home crying with a severe migraine. Now I force her to carry a small box of roasted chana and walnuts in her bag. It has really helped reduce her headache episodes.

My grandmother always told us that leaving the stomach empty for long causes 'pitta' to rise, leading to headaches. Modern doctors also say the same about low glucose triggering migraines. I always keep some buttermilk handy to soothe my system.

Yes yaar, actually fasting is the biggest trigger for my migraines. If I don't eat lunch by 2 PM, my day is practically ruined with heavy throbbing. I always carry some dry fruits in my purse now, quite a lifesaver.

Speaking from 10 years of dealing with migraine, yes, skipping meals is a primary trigger. Set a strict alarm for your meals, stay hydrated with coconut water, and don't rely only on painkillers when the pain starts. Prevention is much easier.

I used to suffer from terrible weekend migraines because I would sleep in late and skip my morning coffee and breakfast. I fixed my routine, started eating within an hour of waking up, and the headaches have almost stopped now. Lifestyle discipline is key.

While hypoglycemia is a well-known migraine trigger, don't assume every headache is just from hunger. If you are experiencing frequent, severe head pain, please consult a physician. Self-treating with snacks might delay finding the real cause.

Along with managing my blood pressure, I have to be very careful with my meal timings. Skipping meals can cause stress, which elevates both BP and triggers migraines. Make sure you get a routine checkup done to rule out other issues.

Hey, please don't skip your meals like this. Your brain needs a constant supply of energy, and when you starve, it protests with a painful headache. Keep a bottle of lemon water nearby and have a small banana if you don't feel like eating a full meal.

I used to panic thinking I had some major neurological problem because my head would hurt so much when I fasted. But my doc reassured me it is just a simple reaction to low blood sugar. Now I just make sure I don't go empty stomach for more than 4 hours.
