Can you get a heart attack from not sleeping?

I've been struggling with insomnia for a long time, and I barely get good sleep these days. I often feel tired and my chest sometimes feels tight. Can chronic lack of sleep increase the risk of a heart attack?

Yes, chronic sleep deprivation is strongly linked to high blood pressure and heart attacks. Please try to get at least 7 hours of uninterrupted sleep every night.

When I stay up late binge-watching shows and eating cold pizza, my heart starts racing and I feel terrible the next day. Lack of sleep coupled with late-night junk food is a recipe for heart strain. Try to fix your sleep schedule, and if you ever feel crushing chest pain, go straight to a doctor.

Yes, lack of sleep increases inflammation and blood pressure, which can trigger cardiac events. If you are experiencing sudden chest tightness, heavy sweating, or pain radiating to your left arm after staying awake for long, please go to the nearest emergency room immediately.

Putra, our body needs proper rest to heal itself, and skipping sleep puts heavy pressure on the heart. Try drinking a glass of warm milk with turmeric before bed to help you relax. However, if you are experiencing chest pain or breathlessness, do not wait and visit a doctor immediately.

Don't ignore the physical warning signs of sleep deprivation by relying on sleeping pills or home remedies you find online. If your heart is palpitating or your chest hurts, you need to verify your heart health with a cardiologist. Get a proper checkup and let the professionals guide you.
