Can you get a handicap placard for diabetes?

My mother has severe diabetes, and she often has difficulty walking due to nerve pain and weakness in her legs. We were thinking of getting a handicap parking placard for her. Is diabetes a condition for which you can get one?

Usually, diabetes alone doesn't qualify you for a handicap placard unless it has led to severe complications. I have high BP and mild diabetes, and I manage with regular walking and keeping my reports in check. If you have severe neuropathy or vision issues due to diabetes, only then the medical board might consider it.

Haan, normal diabetes ke liye toh handicap placard nahi milta na. But agar diabetes ki wajah se pairon mein severe nerve damage (neuropathy) ho gayi hai aur chalne mein bahut dikkat hai, tab apply kar sakte ho. Apne doctor se discuss karo, wahi sahi guidance denge.

Getting a disability certificate in India is a very long and tedious process. If your diabetes is under control and you can walk, they will definitely reject the application. Instead of going through all that government office paperwork, it is easier to request mall or hospital security for drop-off options near the gate.

Man, controlling diabetes while living around so much street food is a task! But yes, unless your diabetes has caused serious foot ulcers or major mobility issues, you won't get a special parking permit. It's better to keep walking those extra steps after a cheat meal anyway!

I have been living with diabetes for the last 25 years. In my experience, unless there is a severe amputation or complete loss of sensation in the feet, the government medical board will not issue a handicap pass. Focus on keeping your sugar controlled with proper medication so you don't face such mobility issues.

Unless diabetes has severely affected your physical movement or eyes, you won't qualify for a special parking card. To manage the condition better and avoid neuropathy complications, try to maintain a strict low-carb, high-fiber vegetarian diet. Prevention of further damage is key.

Let's be real—diabetes on its own will not get you a handicap placard in India. RTO rules are very strict and only cover physical disabilities or extreme systemic failures. Unless you have documented diabetic retinopathy or a leg condition that stops you from walking, don't waste time on the application.
