Can you get a fever from lack of sleep?

I've been having really irregular sleep schedules because of my college exams, barely getting 3-4 hours a night. Now I feel generally unwell and a bit warm. Can not sleeping enough actually cause a fever?

Please don't ignore this. I once had a mild fever and thought it was just due to late-night shifts, so I ignored it and kept working. It turned out to be a severe viral infection that landed me in the hospital. Get yourself checked by a doctor before assuming it is just sleep.

According to my physician, chronic sleep deprivation severely suppresses your immune system's T-cells. This makes you highly susceptible to opportunistic pathogens, which is usually the actual cause of the fever. So while sleep loss triggers it indirectly, it's the lack of immunity doing the damage.

Yes, absolutely! Whenever I pull consecutive all-nighters, my body gets so warm and cranky 🥱. It is just your brain telling you to shut down the system. Go catch some cozy sleep and you will wake up fresh as a daisy! ✨

Beta, the human body needs proper rest to function, otherwise the internal systems get disturbed. Drink a warm glass of turmeric milk before going to bed, it helps soothe the nerves and fights mild infections. Sleep early tonight and let your body heal.

In our family, they say a good sesame oil head bath helps cool down a body heated from sleeplessness. However, if the fever persists, it is always wise to consult a doctor. Please do not rely only on home remedies if you feel very unwell.

At my age, even looking at a late-night movie can give me a fever the next day! But yes, a sleepless night completely ruins your body's temperature control. My current prescription to myself is just a dark room, a loud fan, and six hours of absolute silence.
