Can you get a cpap without a sleep study?

My wife says I snore a lot and I feel tired during the day, so I suspect I might have sleep apnea. I really don't want to go through a full sleep study. Can you get a CPAP machine without first doing a sleep study?

No beta, you should not buy a CPAP directly. A proper sleep study is needed to find the exact pressure settings your lungs need, otherwise it can cause breathing discomfort.

Getting the right diagnosis is important for a peaceful sleep. It is always better to go through the proper tests rather than rushing. Take care of yourself.

My father wanted to buy a CPAP directly to stop his snoring, but our family doctor strictly advised against it. We did the overnight sleep study, and only then the doctor prescribed the exact pressure levels.

I was also trying to skip the sleep study because it sounded so scary with all those wires, but I realized using a CPAP with the wrong settings can be really risky for the heart. Please do the test first!

It is not advisable to self-prescribe such machines. Please undergo the sleep test as recommended by doctors, and try doing gentle Bhastrika pranayama in the mornings.
