Can you feel skin cancer?

I noticed a new, somewhat rough patch on my arm, and it feels a bit different from my other moles. I'm concerned about skin cancer. Can you usually feel skin cancer, like a lump or a textured area?

It is incredibly scary to look at a new mark on your skin and wonder if it is something serious. When I went through my biopsy scare, the emotional stress was overwhelming, but finding out early is the best way forward.

Actually, you don't really 'feel' it as pain. I had a strange mole on my shoulder that didn't hurt or itch at all, but it kept changing shape and color. Got it checked and luckily it was benign, but you shouldn't wait for pain to see a doc.

Just like managing blood pressure requires regular monitoring, keeping an eye on your skin health is essential as we grow older. If you notice any changing mole, get a professional checkup done without delay.

I always go to a reputed hospital for my annual dermatological screenings. If you have a suspicious spot, don't ignore it—ask your dermatologist clearly about doing a dermoscopy or biopsy to rule out any malignancy.

I noticed a small, rough red patch on my arm that sometimes gets itchy but doesn't really hurt. I'm honestly super worried about skin issues now. Has anyone else had a painless spot that turned out to be something serious?

In my years of reading health forums, I've seen that skin cancers are mostly painless in their initial stages. Look for the ABCDE rules—Asymmetry, Border, Color, Diameter, and Evolving—and consult a specialist if you notice these signs.

Most skin cancers don't cause pain in the early stages, they just look like a mole or scab that won't go away. A practical way is to take a photo of the spot every month to track if it is growing or changing color, then show it to a skin doctor.

I just had a basal cell carcinoma removed from my neck last month. It felt like a small, pearly pimple that would occasionally bleed when I scrubbed my face, but there was zero deep pain. Highly recommend getting any non-healing spot biopsied.

While eating clean and sweating it out at the gym keeps your body strong, it can't prevent sun damage on its own. If you have any odd-looking freckles or spots from outdoor workouts, just get a dermatologist to look at them.

Please try not to worry too much right now. Most spots on the skin are completely harmless, but visiting a good skin specialist will help you get clear answers and feel much lighter.

Skin issues can be very tricky, haan na. It usually doesn't hurt at all, which is why we ignore it. Best option is to show it to a skin doc instead of scratching or trying home remedies at home.

When you are out for your daily morning walks or runs, make sure to wear sunscreen and protective clothing. Most skin changes are painless, so keeping yourself protected from UV rays is your best first defense while you consult a doctor.
