Can you feel pain in dreams?

Last night I had a dream where I fell and it actually felt like I was hurting. It was a really strange experience. Is it possible to truly feel physical pain in your dreams?

Haan yaar, bilkul hota hai kabhi kabhi! Jaise sapne mein chot lagti hai toh sach mein dukhne lagta hai na, par aankh khulte hi sab normal ho jata hai. Dimag bhi ajeeb khel khelta hai hamare saath.

At this age, my back aches even when I am wide awake, so dreams are no exception! Honestly, sometimes real-world pain like a leg cramp or bad sleeping posture just sneaks into our dreams and makes us feel like we got hurt there.

I totally get it, it can be really unsettling to wake up feeling like you actually felt pain in a nightmare. Our brain processes dream emotions and physical sensations very intensely sometimes, so it feels incredibly real.

While it can be just a vivid dream, please check if you have any actual physical soreness or injury when you wake up. If you are regularly experiencing physical pain that wakes you up from sleep, you must get it checked by a doctor to rule out nerve issues.

Yes, you can. It's basically your brain translating real-life physical discomfort—like sleeping on an arm or a muscle spasm—into your dream plot. It's just a neurological response, nothing mystical about it.
