Can you feel kidney pain?

Been having a dull ache in my lower back area, just below my ribs, and it sometimes radiates to my side. I'm worried it might be my kidneys. Can you actually feel pain specifically from your kidneys, and where would that typically be located?

I had severe complications from a kidney infection because I thought it was just regular back pain and delayed going to the hospital. Kidney pain is usually felt deep in your upper back or side, under the ribs, and it can be quite constant. Please do not ignore this and consult a doctor immediately to avoid permanent damage.

Look, if the pain is in your side and doesn't change when you bend or stretch, it is likely kidney pain, not muscle pain. Don't sit around trying to stretch it out or taking random painkillers. Go to a clinic, get a simple urine test and ultrasound done, and fix the root issue.

I panicked so much last month when I got a sharp ache in my lower back, thinking my kidneys were failing. It turned out to be just a minor muscle pull from sitting awkwardly all day! True kidney pain is usually a deep, throbbing ache under the ribcage, so don't stress yet, but do get it checked to be sure.

Kidney issues can escalate very quickly if they are left untreated, so safety should always be your top priority. Kidney pain often feels like a deep ache on one side of your back, sometimes accompanied by fever or painful urination. Please book an appointment with a urologist or general physician as soon as possible.
