Can you feel hot with a fever?

When having a fever, I feel extremely cold and shiver a lot, but everyone says they feel 'hot' with a fever. This has always confused me. Is it possible to feel both cold and hot with a fever, or is feeling hot the main symptom?

Yes, absolutely. Whenever my smartwatch alerts me that my skin temperature is elevated, I usually feel a burning sensation behind my eyes and on my forehead. Tracking your temperature with a digital thermometer is the most reliable way to monitor a fever. Keep an eye on the numbers and rest well.

When you have a fever, your body temperature rises to fight the infection, which makes you feel very hot and sweaty. This is definitely not the time for any workouts or runs; your body needs complete rest to recover. Once the fever is fully gone and your doctor permits, you can slowly start your walks again.

Feeling very hot or having chills are typical signs when a fever is rising. Please drink plenty of water to stay hydrated and take a damp cloth wipe if needed. Rest well, and I hope you feel much better soon.

I totally get it, that burning feeling in your forehead and hands can make you feel so restless and weak. Sometimes you feel extremely hot one minute and then start shivering the next. Try to stay in a comfortable room, drink warm fluids, and take care of yourself.

Yes, feeling hot and flushed is a standard reaction when your body's thermostat rises. With my blood pressure history, I always make sure to monitor my vitals closely during a fever because infection can put extra stress on the heart. Please consult a doctor if the fever stays high for more than two days.

Of course you'll feel super hot, your body is literally fighting off a mini war inside! Just put on some light clothes, keep the fan on low, and don't stress too much about it. Take a paracetamol if your doctor suggested it and just binge-watch your favorite show tonight.

Yes, feeling hot is your body's natural defense mechanism working hard. When I get a fever, I completely pause my gym routine and focus on simple nutrition like warm khichdi and coconut water. Give your body the time it needs to heal, and don't rush back to lifting weights too soon.
